Some other music players are looking much more modern such as plex or roon or audirvana but we cannot switch to them as they don't do one per cent of what is doing JRiver.

If this is at all unclear, which would not be surprising because I'm not great at describing it, just watch some recent YouTube videos on using "Final Cut Pro X Workspaces".ġ/Many are complaining about the UI although JRiver people doesn't like we say that because complains are not specific enough. The "Favorites" menu bar option starts to walk down this path a bit, but only goes a few steps. Today, most of the interface is fixed and I have to do a lot of clicking to set things up the way I want. Basically I want to tailor, simplify, and focus the interface for what I'm doing. all show/hide, arrange, and size themselves based on what I'm doing, and "Hide" all the things I do NOT want to use. But I can have the tree view, tag editor, content panels, etc. If working with Audio or Images, I might want something different.

to immediately configure, size, and/or render themselves a certain way. So for example, if I want to manage and tag Movies, I might want all of my panels, thumbnails, tagging window, etc.

There is this concept of "Workspaces" within the Windows menu, where you can quickly show, hide, arrange, or size any of the components or panels you want to work with for a given task, then customize and save them so you can quickly toggle the environment for those tasks. My final and rather aspirational idea comes from a few years of recent experience of using Apple's Final Cut Pro X video editor.

I run JR25 on my iMac 27' and it's a great solution, but definitely lacks the elegance of a native Mac app. +1 for more alignment with the Mac in general.Right now they are all very 2005 Windows XP-ish. +1 for improved skins, particularly on the Mac.Very happy as long as it continues to improve, which it has. And Kodi has a far more graphical menu compared to MC.Īgain, I'm not a programmer so I don't know, but it just seems like something about Theater View runs very inefficient.īeen a JRiver annual upgrader since version 18, and on the Mac since v20 or so. I tried out Kodi just to test that out, but it doesn't use all that processing power from the gpu just to display their UI. I could reboot my system, start MC, leave it on Theater View, same thing. However, if I stop playing a video file and just leave it on Theater View, my system starts heating up because the gpu is being used almost entirely. I play 4K video files, and my processor and gpu are barely being used. I'm no programmer, but something seems inefficient in the coding. I do recall Jim explaining that Theater View is refreshing and that's why it uses the gpu.

If that is being worked on, one major complaint from me is the fact that Theater View uses so much gpu processing while doing nothing.

I agree with a lot of folks about the Theater View getting a more fluid and modern update. FEATURE- Method for using Panel/Clients (and other remotes) as different "User", other than the User that the Server is currently logged in as: FEATURE- Define schedule for MC library backups, and remove/move "Watch All" in theater view > video/tv shows:ĥ. FIX- We still deal with this on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day- Theater view IR remote buttons L/R/up/dwn/Ok stop working, but all other buttons continue to work.
